The fucking bullshit pseudoscience being thrown around in the political sphere seems to be far worse than it ever has been. Michele Bachmann stood up in front of Congress and said that CO2 can’t be harmful because it’s natural (!!!!) and she wasn’t laughed out of town. It was barely a blip on the radar. Congresspersons are saying demonstrably false things on national television but we have to handle them with kid gloves because somehow it has become okay to not “believe” in science. They continue to get elected to fucking public office even though they say things that don’t stand the basic common sense test. If someone can’t pass a middle school earth science test, they shouldn’t even be allowed on the ballot. Period.

Honestly, I am as pro-choice as they come, and anti-gay rhetoric makes me want to punch things, and I am sick to death of people who have never even MET a poor person judging welfare recipients, but the thing that makes me angriest is this. That people who actually matter are saying legitimately false, illogical, easily disproven things and not being called on it by their fellow Congresspersons or the “mainstream media” (the one time I will quote Sarah Palin) or their constituents. What is this bullshit, and how do I make it stop?
